EPIC EPIC EPIC

Okay, so backstory...

Back at the end of 2007 there was supposed to be a machinima collaboration that went through pretty much everyone messing with WoW machinima at the time. It got through 7 parts and then disappeared never to be released...

The seven parts that were completed were Olibith, Nyhm, UncleTom, tehtaco, Telemora, Dopefish, & BaronSoosdon.

Epic right?

DeadWorkers, Drewbie, Kenion, Seksi, Jun, Pinkhair, Me, TheDriver, Malu never got to doing parts, and those were just a few of the many to be included.

So it died, and the completed parts were never released...
UNTIL NOW.

Between the Baby: IFAP3

So the minion is now 6 months old, and it is clear I am never getting blocks of free time ever again... so I'm going to try to make do with the time I do have.

So it begins. I have been working on the script to IFAP3 - which, btw, will be the last one. There may have to be IFAP4, but it's unlikely, and it's all the same script - it would only depend on time. I think if it goes over 30 min I might have to break it up. Currently, it's 17 pages long. I'm still missing a couple scenes and it has to go through the continuous editing, but it will come. I plan on getting out the scripts by next month to the actors... then comes the hoping that they get the lines to me. IFAP2 came out in Apr of this year, hopefully the final part will come out by then, but I don't have the large chunks of time I had before. It will get done, it will just be on a baby schedule.

This is also the first time I've figured out how to use the texture editing part of modelviewer for myself... and lets just say I am highly entertained.

With love,
Sels

Blood Elf Men.

I still get asked/commented to repeatedly about how it blows peoples minds that I don't see the blood elf men as embodying some sort of gay stereotype. Not only that, I see them as masculine. What needs to be understood here is the kind of men that my age group grew up drooling over... our '80s sex icons. I see blood elves, I see this:

These were our sex objects. You can't tell me Axl doesn't remind you of a male belf. (Speaking of, never google a current picture of the man. Some things seen cannot be unseen.) Now you understand. Welcome to the '80s.

Seriously, they missed out on the right blood elf dance. It should have been every move in this video instead of the Napoleon Dynamite thing.

Speaking of GNR, remember the epic video for "November Rain"? I went looking for the short story it's based on and found it here. All I can say is... I'm not surprised GNR liked it.

If you don't want to read it, this blog pretty much sums it up.

I'm amused that the story wasn't actually published until 10 years later.

IFAP 2, a couple reviews :D

I received a couple really nice reviews of IFAP2 in the past couple days.

One was from Wowinsider's Moviewatch, and the other from a blogger on the myndflame forums in a column he calls Whowho's Machinima Gaga. (Which gets points in my book just for being a Queen reference.)

Also, I'd like to point over to a new video by Demachic, whose work I adore. She's the same age as my niece, and I just imagine my niece doing videos like hers and it just amazes me! Her new video is a music video for Britney Spear's Circus.

In For A Penny: Part Two "The Thorne of Rose Street"

Finally after the long setbacks, it's done, and it's published. The first streams are up.

Watch In For A Penny: Part 2 - "The Thorne of Rose Street":
Here
Or here.

Download available here as well.

If you haven't seen the first part, please do before watching this one.

There was a voice actor change which may or may not be readily noticeable. After sitting on the project for 6 months waiting for voice lines, I eventually needed to recast Thayle. I am extremely happy though with the job that Cranius did with the part, and I think the audience will agree.

It literally took me about a week to finish this after receiving the lines, that's how done it was since last year. Six months of waiting for lines had me quite frustrated!

All the music used is available in the FAQ. It is all under Creative Commons copyright, and I encourage donations to the artists if you like their work.

Ulduar - WoW Parody

If you haven't seen this... see this...

I'll be honest, I had to watch it a few times to actually watch the video because I was so distracted by how much I liked the vocals. The video is an excellent compliment to it - there is nothing negative about this video. At all. Watch it.

Summergale's previous songs don't do her justice, and Cranius' voice made me swoon. ^^

Voice Acting - MALE lead recasting for IFAP2

[Machinima] In For A Penny Series - MALE LEAD recast

Due to unavailability of the original actor in this series, the lead male role needs to be recast.

"In For A Penny" is a noir inspired series using multiple game engines. The first part "On All Eight" can be viewed here as a stream or other streaming and downloads are available here.

Part 1 was also one of three finalists in Dragon*Con's machinima portion of 2008, which got real screen time at the Con.

This machinima is a little bit film noir, a little bit 1940s black and white - so a little bit of silly humor, a dose of melodrama, and hopefully not too much camp (although a little can be expected!).

The piece may have some suggestive dialogue, but nothing graphic.
There may be light cursing involved, although nothing stronger than things such as “hell” or “damn.” Part 1 gives a pretty good tone of the project.

The part being recast is that of THAYLE. This is part two of the series. I plan for there to be two more parts, although I intend to send the next two scripts at the same time. They will not be until much later this year though, likely fall or winter.

Photobucket

MALE
A Medium to Light, smooth voice.
Age 20s- early 30s.
See Part 1 linked above for tone of the piece.

Thayle is the tramp of the film: The streetwise card shark, the joker, the guy everyone loves because even when they want to they find it hard to hate him. Some make the mistake of taking him for a fool, but that's exactly how he likes it.

Lines:
1. (incredulous, yet bemused) Are you kidding , kitten?
2. (the word ‘clearly’ is meant to mock Thorne) Thinking to gamble on that? Besides, you want me around – I’m clearly the most fun you’ve had in years.
3. (grinning) Well gents, you can see that a beautiful woman wants my attention. I can’t help the effect I have on them. I’m afraid our meeting will have to wait a while.

Please send the above line samples to selserene@gmail.com. Please use “IFAP lines” “IFAP auditions” or something similar in the title to thwart the evil machinations of the spam filter.
Wav or mp3 preferred, but I can accommodate other file types.

Deadline for auditions: Apr 1
After casting, line deadline will be: Apr 15

I’m looking forward to hearing the auditions! Questions/Comments welcome.

UPDATE: Just a reminder, the deadline is in two days!

Also, I have responded to all auditions I've gotten that I have received them. If you sent (or send) me an audition, and did not receive a response letting you know I got it, please PM or otherwise contact me!

Optemizzm, I no longer has it.

I wrote a few months back that I was optimistic that I would be able to release IFAP2 soon; I've been sitting on the project for about 6 months now waiting for nothing but the voice acting lines I'm missing. The project is literally 75% done, and I mean with sound, video, everything, but four of the scenes are unfinished because I need the lines.

This week I will likely be putting up recasting threads. So if you are a voice actor interested in a male lead in this series, keep an eye out for that. I'm not thrilled about having to recast, but at this point, it seems that patience was not a virtue.

The Asiyah Horizon Trailer

The Asiyah Horizon Trailer 1 - The First Star from SoundWizardry on Vimeo.

From what I understand, this will be a Starcraft machinima. Also, Caruu likes to pitch up my voice and add reverb... LOTS of reverb. Is true. *nods* Like noms on lolcats.

In For A Penny: FAQ

Since I get mailed a bunch for questions on a couple things, I'll add this as a link on the side for answering them. Feel free to comment with questions and I'll answer for you.

Q: Why did it take so long between parts one and two?

A: I sent my scripts out in September 2008, but a couple voice actors had RL things to deal with. At the beginning of April, I recasted Thayle. IFAP Part 2 was released within a week.

Q: How long until Part 3?

A:  The scripts have been sent to the actors and I have created some of the sets that will be used. We have a new baby, and that will take up most of my time. Unfortunately, I had different project I had to cancel on which I was looking forward to participating in, but tiny demanding god comes first.

Currently I am waiting on three voice actors; once those actors send their lines, I will begin working on the project.  Until then, I am enjoying time with my daughter.

Q: Can I do voices for IFAP?

A: Thank you for the interest, but I will need no more actors for IFAP.

Q: I need that song Leda sings in Part 1! I NEED IT!

A: Tori Amos - Mother Revolution. Here's a link to the amazon page.

Q: Did you sing the song Leda sings??

A: No. See answer above. I sang in a different machinima though.

Q: What's X song in X scene? Where can I get these songs?

A: All the music used is listed in the credits. A link to the songs is available below. Please do not contact me asking for me to e-mail them to you; I will not send them. You can purchase them on amazon for less than a dollar per song, or download from Jamendo, depending on which one.

Can it be?

Wowmodelviewer.org updated it's frontpage with the next version of Model Viewer... can it be... is it real? Doth my eyes deceive me?

0.6.0.2 WoW Model Viewer Release.

From initial messing with it, it is a bit buggy. It locked up more than a few times, and I got to see an awesome disco light show at one point when it bugged out as well. It seems usable, at least, if needing a little patience.

I'm still excited to see a new version. :D

Update 2: I've actually been using the older version now for non-wrath animations. There used to be 3-4 talk type animations (talk/exclamation/question/etc) which have all been removed in the newest version, giving me less range of movement for animating that. I hope it's something that can be returned to the program, but likely, Blizzard removed the data files which is why modelviewer doesn't see them. Very disappointing for machinimation. :(

Optemizzm, I has it.

I'd hoped to have IFAP2 done and released last year, but it wasn't in the cards. I did get e-mail recently from the voice actors that I am still missing files from, who said they would work on getting them to me soon. It's making me hugely optimistic that I can start working on the project again. *crosses fingers*

I do feel bad whenever I see posts on my videos asking for the next one; I'd have it out if I could, really, but you have to roll with what you are given. I'm hoping that once I have the voices, I'll be able to release it within a few weeks of that. I can put off gaming addictions for long enough to work on it. ^^

In any case, I re-rendered the original IFAP Part One with better compression settings, thanks to Legs teaching me how not to such with megui. If you are interested in such things, you can find the download >here<. Quality should be much improved.

Out in the Cold

As I've mentioned a million times, Legs' work is some of my favorite in machinima. Her latest submission is no exception.

I've been waiting patiently for a stream since the 24th when it was finished, but Legs was having difficulty uploading it to m.com, and needed admin assistance to finally get it online. It was submitted to the m.com Christmas contest and is stunningly beautiful, and very sweet. If you haven't seen it yet, give a look.
